Description

Herbert Hoover

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.25, personal letterhead, May 16, 1933. Letter to Lewis Strauss. In part: “Some inflation, speculation, and seasonal improvement in business are evident. The great question is, has real demand come into real action—is there real confidence abroad in the land? The public was so scared at the closing of the banks and their re-opening that it will accept anything from Washington. It is mostly, however, engaged in erecting storm shelters, including bunk statistics.” In fine condition. An interesting letter on the recovering economy written just a couple months after FDR replaced him in the White House. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
