Description

Tremendously rare Sun Yat-sen signed photograph—the founder of modern China

Chinese revolutionary (1866–1925) who helped to overthrow the centuries-old Qing Dynasty in 1911 to become the first president of the Republic of China. Exceedingly rare circa 1912 cabinet-style 3.5 x 5 albumen portrait of Sun Yat-sen affixed to its original 4.75 x 8.5 mount, boldly signed on the image in black ink, “Sun Yet sen.” Published by H. T. Thompson. In fine condition, with some unobtrusive bends and creases to the mount. As a revered political leader of the 20th century and the key figure in establishing the modern Chinese state, Sun Yat-sen represents one of the most highly sought-after autographs worldwide. Signed photographs are excessively rare and this is the first we have offered in fifteen years. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
