Description

Robert Treat Paine

Massachusetts lawyer (1731–1814) who served as one of the prosecutors of British soldiers during the Boston Massacre trial; he later signed the Declaration of Independence. Third-person ADS signed within the text, “Robert Treat Paine,” one page, 6.5 x 2, September 17, 1765. In full: “For same received I promise to pay to Robert Treat Paine or Order eighteen shillings & interest till paid.” Signed at the conclusion by Daniel Hunt. Nicely matted and framed with an engraved portrait to an overall size of 10.25 x 12. In fine condition, with brushing to ink affecting a portion of the date. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
