Description

Fondly remembering his earliest years, Edison sketches his boyhood neighborhood

ALS signed “Thos. A. Edison,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Laboratory of Thomas A. Edison letterhead, June 5, 1910. Letter to Maria Taylor Ottis, a neighbor from his birthplace of Milan, Ohio. In full: “Although only 6 years old when I moved away from Milan I remember you perfectly—we played together a great deal. I think I can draw a map even of the houses.” Below, Edison sketches a map of the street where he lived, denoting the homes of “Edison,” “Jennings,” and “Taylor,” as well as “Big Pear Tree,” “Stone Wall,” “Fence,” “Gate,” and “Orchard.” At the end he adds, “I will be pleased to see your grandson & parents at any time.” Intersecting folds, scattered creases, and light soiling, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
