Description

Edwina MacKenzie

Second-oldest survivor of the Titanic (1884–1984). ALS, one page both sides, 6.25 x 7.75, May 11, 1974. Letter to Robert Forrest, in part: “A line to tell you the excitement of being a guest on the Queen Mary is now passing but the sorrow I had in reading of Lance Bonnet’s untimely passing has penetrated my heart…Also I haven’t heard from Walter Lord. He must be away or very busy. He is usually interested in all members of the T. E. A…Thank you for your clipping. I never hear from Mrs. Thomas’ family or Mrs. O’Niell [sic]. Each time I am on television there is always the question. Why am I not on the list, I am listed on the second class survivors as E. Celia Troutt. Walter got his information from some other person, I was supposed to be a boy and my name was to be Edwin Clement Troutt. But I got the initial.” In fine condition, with trivial creasing to right corners (one touching the last letter of the surname) and a few spots of soiling. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in MacKenzie’s own hand. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
