Giacomo Meyerbeer

German-born composer (1791–1864) best known for such operas as Les Hugenots and Robert le diable. ALS in French, signed “J. Meyerbeer,” one page, 5.25 x 8, June 8, 1831. Untranslated letter to a gentleman, addressed on the reverse of the second integral page in Meyerbeer’s hand. In very good condition, with toned tape and mounting remnants to left and bottom edges, and light dampstaining and irregular toning to lower portion (affecting the last letter of the signature and the paraph). Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
