War-dated partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 14.75 x 17.5, May 26, 1812. President Madison appoints Henry B. Brevoort as “a Captain in the Second Regiment of Infantry in the service of the United States.” Signed at the conclusion by President Madison and countersigned by Secretary of War William Eustis. The white paper seal affixed to the upper left remains intact. Intersecting folds (passing through the first letter of the signature), a few tears and areas of paper loss to edges, and toning to edges, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
