Description

Warren G. Harding

TLS as president, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 7 x 8.75, White House letterhead, August 19, 1921. Letter to former US Postmaster General John Wanamaker, in part: “I am now in receipt of Mrs. Zaccahea’s letter which I want to bring to your amiable attention. She tells me that her husband is employed by you in New York, that he earns $20.00 per week, and that she would be glad of any interest in helping him to a better salary…so I am taking the liberty of writing to you to express my hope that you may be able to find a way of helping this somewhat notable family…I have many times noted, as you doubtless have also, that not infrequently men, capable of much better things, are side-tracked in positions which give them no opportunity for the development of their best possibilities. It has occurred to me that this might on investigation prove to be such a case, and that this man, if given the opportunity, might prove himself thoroughly worthy of a chance to earn, both for himself and his employers, a considerably better income.” In fine condition, with trivial creasing and soiling. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
