Description

Dwight D. Eisenhower

TLS as president signed “D. E.,” one page, 7 x 10.25, White House letterhead, August 20, 1959. Letter to David Marx, of the famous toy manufacturer Louis Marx and Company, in part: “I thought I was conditioned to your thoughtfulness, but now I find myself again overwhelmed. Your kindness and generosity in sending me gifts that I can present to various of the people abroad is both tremendous and heartwarming…Currently I am wrestling with the problem of the television set; it is so unique that I selfishly hate to part with it. However, Ann tells me that you have given us carte blanche to do with the radios and television set as we like, and I rather suspect that when I return she will give you a complete run down on distribution.” Eisenhower adds a brief postscript, “I shall write Mrs. Haupt a letter, but since I deduce that you financed the button project, my thanks for that, too! The list of indebtedness is, of course, endless.” In fine condition, with trivial soiling. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
