In full: “I would like to join you tonight in congratulating Dr. Frank Stanton on his winning the 1962 Gold Medal of the organization. His substantial accomplishments and contributions to the field of broadcasting and communications…merit the high recognition he is receiving tonight.” Between “communications” and “merit,” Kennedy adds in fountain pen, “and his long public service.” In fine condition, with mild creases. Stanton served as president of CBS from 1946 to 1971 and was celebrated as a spokesman for the broadcast industry and journalists before Congress. Stanton played a pivotal role in arranging the famous televised debates between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon during the 1960 presidential campaign.
