Description

Herbert Hoover

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, October 12, 1943. Letter to Miles W. Jones, in part: “On Thursday, October 28th, I am delivering what I think is a rather important speech on the question of peace. It will be a continuation of some ideas I presented at Minneapolis and will be from an American point of view. I think it desirable to get as much distribution as possible. I am speaking before a meeting of the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and other associated groups. The speech will be broadcast over the Mutual Broadcasting System from 8:30 to 9:00 p.m., Central War Time. As you may know…the local stations are free to take a public address or not, just as they like. The local stations are responsive to local interest and demand, and often the only way they will broadcast such an address is if the people in the different towns call up their stations and ask that they take the program. I am writing at this early date because the stations arrange their programs a considerable time in advance.” In fine condition, with tack holes to lower left and a few chips and dings to left edge. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
