Robert Treat Paine

Massachusetts lawyer (1731–1814) who served as one of the prosecutors of British soldiers during the Boston Massacre trial; he later signed the Declaration of Independence. Endorsement signature, “Paine,” at the conclusion of a manuscript legal document, one page, 3.75 x 6.25, dated August 1769. A legal bill in the amount of £2.5.10 for plaintiff’s expenses including transportation of forty miles and attendance of ten days. In fine condition, with a central vertical fold, light soiling, and mild mirrored ink from a page no longer present. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
