In part: “The young man from Careys & Co called as you requested him—He is most anxious to have the hoisters—one at any rate—immediately, but expressed his regret that we could not ‘reverse as a steam engine’—I told him we could do better viz. reverse the rotation of the barrel whilst the engine went ahead doing other work—He was perfectly delighted on being shown how that is done at Stewards’—You will understand therefore that it is Stewards upper fix…I cannot imagine why that is not in operation this day and beg you will order Orr to see that by tomorrow night any how the Steward upper hoister is ready for operation.” In very good condition, with chipping, small tears, and some paper loss to edges.
