“I have just eaten and drunk well and I feel at peace with the world”

Scottish bacteriologist (1881–1955) who shared the 1945 Nobel Prize in Medicine for his role in the discovery and isolation of penicillin. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, personal letterhead, December 25, 1951. In part: “I have not sent any Christmas cards but now on Christmas day I wish you good cheer and good fortune in 1952. I have just eaten and drunk well and I feel at peace with the world. Thank you very much for ‘Life.’ I seem to have let myself in for something for I understand that when the Recks of Edinburgh Unit is installed they have the same…proceedings.” In fine condition.
