Crisp TLS signed “FDR,” one page, 8 x 10.5, State of New York Executive Chamber letterhead, dated “At Warm Springs, Georgia. May 13, 1929.” Letter to Basil O’Connor, in full: “I enclose copy of budget approved with the exception noted on it.” In fine condition, with three dings to the right edge, and a filing stamp, pencil notations, and a pair of punch holes to left edge. In 1924, FDR traveled to Warm Springs, Georgia, where he found that immersion in the area’s mineral-rich warm water was one of the few things that provided relief from his polio-induced paralysis. Shortly thereafter he partnered with Basil O’Connor to purchase the resort and develop it into a world-famous polio treatment center—the Georgia Warm Springs Foundation.
