In full (translated): "Permit me to correct an error that appeared in the article in the 'Neue Freie Presse' regarding my so-called autobiography. It is not correct that this is a private publication not available commercially. On the contrary, my article has appeared in the collection 'Die Medizin der Gegenwart in Selbstdarstellungen' ['Modern Medicine in Self-Portraits'] published by Professor Grote and may be found with five others of the same sort in the fourth volume [Verlag Felix Meiner, Leipzig 1925]. I no longer have any reprints of the lecture published on February 12. The remark 'not available in the book trade' referred only to the reprints." In fine condition, with light creases and toning.
Freud published a lengthy 95-page essay entitled 'An Autobiographical Study' in 1925, which was more of a 'professional rather than personal' history. In it, he explored the development of his thinking over time and provided an overview of the subjects for which he became famous. He went on to publish a revised version in 1935, adding details on his latest research, major events in his life, and general developments in psychiatry the decade following the autobiography's initial appearance.
