Letter to Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, a major general of the Continental Army who served as General George Washington's chief of staff in the final years of the war. In part: “I send you an order for Four hundred Dollars in Cash, and Bank Check:—Since I last saw you I have found some Receipts…of Payments made on your Account.” In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds, light stains and foxing, a few small areas of paper loss (affecting one word), and professionally silked on both sides for preservation.
