Outstanding glossy 8 x 10 photo of Kennedy from early in his first term as senator, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Watson Talbert, with every good wish, John Kennedy, USS—Mass.” Reverse bears a Life Magazine photographer’s copyright stamp. Light rippling and scattered creases, and trivial spotting to dark areas of the image, otherwise fine condition. This portrait was originally taken by Life Magazine photojournalist Hank Walker, who had been assigned to Washington as a White House photographer in 1951 and later covered Kennedy’s 1960 presidential campaign; by the end of his career, he had over a dozen Life cover photos to his credit. As a classic image of Senator Kennedy, the portrait was used on the back of the dust jacket for his Pulitzer Prize–winning 1956 book Profiles in Courage. A rare and absolutely fantastic piece. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
