Description

“I learned over the radio that my son accepted a plea bargain–I thought he had more of me in him”

ALS signed “Johnny,” three pages, lightly-lined, 8.5 x 11, no date. Letter to Barbara DeCicco, daughter of mobster and longtime Gambino capo George DeCicco. In part: “As always I hope this finds you and everyone well and with clear mind set. I apologize for not writing sooner–once again moving me with out any notice has caused much confusion. They came at the break of dawn and said get ready you’re flying back to Marion immediately. Naturally it took three weeks for all my property to catch up to me in Marion. Then I had a disagreement with a new staff member–I told him what I thought of his ancestors–and spent Easter Week in the ‘hole’ so I didn’t get to send out a single Easter card or wish, so a happy belated Easter to all the family…I can’t believe George is just 15 years old. He too is going to be a brusier. I’m glad he takes after the DeCiccos–Can’t improve on those bloodlines…You don’t offend me by asking me to pray nor do I get offended when you mention God–in fact, I feel just the opposite. I think it’s great you have such faith and I appreciate that in you. Also I thank you for keeping my family and me in your prayers…I do get aggravated sometimes–such as today, when I learned over the radio that my son accepted a plea bargain–I thought he had more of me in him. He knows I was against taking any plea! Maybe one day he’ll satisfy me with an explanation. In the mean time I won’t dwell on it further than today. Getting to your father’s 70th Birthday, I’m happy you had the surprise dinner party for him, and of course he was pleased and I’ll bet very proud. I’m also very happy that I was present in your hearts and thoughts. Please wish him a belated very special happy birthday with wishes for many more all better the last. Also wish George an equally belated happy birthday–with his size I’m glad he’s on our side. By the By, your wonderful thoughts about your sister are very touching–it’s obvious both of you have a great sister–and I’m sure you’re right in feeling exhilarated. I often get good feelings when I let myself think of my son Frank. Moving on, I hope both Gina and Reynolds had great holidays.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Gotti’s hand, and signed in the return address area, “Gotti #18261-053.” A stark example of Gotti’s incarceration and his difficulty in managing ‘family’ affairs from behind bars. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
