Description

White album portraits including Lennon’s iconic image

Fabulous collection of three color 7.5 x 10.75 lightweight cardstock head-and-shoulders photos of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr from the Beatles White album packaging. Lennon’s is signed in red ballpoint, McCartney’s is signed in blue felt tip, and Starr’s is signed in black felt tip, “Ringo.” In fine condition, with heavy contrast to most of Lennon’s signature. All three photos are accompanied by letters of authenticity from noted Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo. His letter for the Lennon photo reads, in part: “The signature dates from the mid 1970s, and it is very reminiscent of the style of autograph which appeared on items he was signing while he was the special guest host of the WFIL Radio ‘Helping Hands Marathon.’” All three portraits were originally taken at the Apple studios by photographer John Kelly in the fall of 1968. This image of Lennon has become one of the most widely recognized and famous portraits of the rock and roll legend. These desirable White album photos—a rarity themselves—are the next best thing to having an elusive band-signed White album. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.
