President Pierce directs the secretary of state “to affix the Seal of the United States to my Proclamation of the Convention, between the United States & His Highness the Sultan of Borneo, of the 23d June 1830.” In fine condition, with some mild spotting and light edge dings. The US and Borneo signed a treaty on June 23, 1830, which set forth terms for trade between the nations, exempting imports and exports from duties; in the agreement, the sultan also agreed to aid any American ships wrecked off the coast of Borneo.
