Thornton (1926–1984) was an R & B singer and the first to record Leiber and Stoller’s ‘Hound Dog’ in 1952. Glossy 8 x 10 publicity photo of Big Mama Thornton and The Chicago Blues Band, signed vertically in black felt tip by Waters and “Best of Love, Big Mama,” in blue felt tip.
