Description

Choice portrait of the 1920s screen icon

Italian-born actor (1895–1926) who became the most legendary sex symbol of the silent era. His premature death from a perforated ulcer induced a wave of fan hysteria unmatched until the modern “paparazzi” age, including riots and suicide attempts by grief-stricken fans. Uncommon matte-finish 7.5 x 9.5 Henry Waxman photo of the actor in a sweater and bow tie, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Our Far Eastern Headquarters, Sincerely, Rudolph Valentino.” In fine condition, with a small crease to top left corner and a bit of scattered light soiling, mainly to upper portion of image. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
