TLS, one page, 7.75 x 10.25, Vice President’s Chamber letterhead, August 27, 1901. Letter to Senator Shelby M. Cullom of Illinois. In part: “I shall be in Chicago next Saturday. It will be a particular pleasure to see you. I think [you are to be asked] to lunch to meet me; [if not can we not breakfast together Sunday?] I thank you most heartily. [I greatly desire to see you.]” Roosevelt made many handwritten edits and addendums at the conclusion, represented by brackets in this text. Intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature) and a bit of brushing to ink on the edited portion, otherwise fine condition.
