Declaration of Independence: Robert Treat Paine

Massachusetts lawyer (1731–1814) who served as one of the prosecutors of British soldiers during the Boston Massacre trial; he later signed the Declaration of Independence. ADS, signed “R. T. Paine Esq,” one page, 3.75 x 6, September, 1769. Bill for his legal services in the amount of £1.18.2, covering “writ & fee,” “service of writ,” “entry & dues,” and “attendance 10 days.” In fine condition, with mild mirroring of ink and toning to bottom edge. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
