American naval admiral (1882–1968) who commanded the Pacific Fleet at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor. DS, signed “H. E. Kimmel,” one page both sides, 8 x 10.5, June 14, 1929. Kimmel commands a junior officer to “report to Commander Destroyer Squadron TWELVE for ‘temporary duty in connection with Destroyer Squadrons Gunnery School,’” then report back to his vessel, the U.S.S.
