Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 20 x 16, August 1, 1836. Four-language ship’s papers issued to “William Whitten, Jr., master or commander of the Ship called John Howland…lying at present in the port of New Bedford…and laden with Provisions Stores and Utensils for a whaling voyage.” Signed in the middle by Jackson and countersigned by Secretary of State William Forsythe. Tape reinforcement to fragile folds, partial separations to the folds, two folds lightly passing through signature, as well as some small area of paper loss along central horizontal fold, otherwise very good condition.
