First editions, later printings, as indicated by the "One Hundreth Thousand" notation on title pages. Features title vignettes and six wood-engraved plates. Volumes have been bound together into one volume; condition VG-/None. Quarterbound in chocolate brown leather and brown cloth, with gilt title on spine, and gilt decoration along five raised bands. Edges are worn, with bumps and tears at corners; text block slightly discolored, darker along edges, with scattered staining and foxing throughout; small tear to ffep from affixed signature card, and an additional tear and staining to third ffep; early pencil gift inscription to second ffep; front and rear interior hinges cracked, but binding still strong.
