Four-language ship’s papers issued to James Goodday, “master or commander of the Brig called The Fox…lying at present in the port of New York bound for Bordeaux,” laden with a wide array of goods including “cocoa, coffee, sugar, rocoa, cotton, logwood, horns, and bear skins.” Signed at the conclusion by Madison and countersigned by Secretary of State Robert Smith. White seals affixed to left side remain fully intact. Attractively double-matted and framed to an overall size of 30.5 x 26.
