Description

“I learned to my horror how much punctuation is done by voice inflection & hence can’t be transcribed to paper”

ALS signed “RR,” one page, lightly-lined, 8 x 10, notated June 21, 1967. Letter to a constituent. In part: “A long time ago reading some of my speeches that had been taped & then transcribed I learned to my horror how much punctuation is done by voice inflection & hence can’t be transcribed to paper…I’m afraid I read almost incoherent. My analogy to the $12,000 sports car was only drawn for the purpose of illustrating the cost comparison and was in no way intended to put a sports car and an education in the same category as to worth or importance.” In fine condition, with a light area of discoloration in the upper margin (not affecting any writing). Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
