Description

Cather signs her uncommon full name for a young collector

TLS signed “Willa Sibert Cather,” one page, 8.25 x 11, personal letterhead, February 28, 1924. Letter to a young collector. In part: “I am delighted to send you my autograph, and wish I could drop in and say ‘How do you do.’ You must have a very interesting collection, indeed. I hope you are getting along splendidly and are growing better every day.” Under her full signature, Cather adds a handwritten postscript which reads, “I write you my full name, though I do not use the middle one very often now.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, and some light toning and soiling to edges. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
