Screenwriter and director (1921–1991). TLS, two pages, 8.5 x 11, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation letterhead, September 6, 1972. Letter to an admirer regarding Barbara Stanwyck’s performance in The Man with a Cloak. In part: “You asked, particularly, why we did not employ her own voice in the recording of the song her character delivered in the picture. The reasons for not making use of Miss Stanwyck’s own voice in the recording of the song eludes me entirely [handwritten addendum: 21 years ago, after all!]. David Raksin composed the score…and it is my assumption that the range of the song was not a comfortable one.” Markle also made a couple of ballpoint corrections to the text. In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
