Following the Protectorate rule of Oliver Cromwell and his son, Richard, Charles’s line was restored to the throne with the succession of his son, Charles II, in 1660, whose reign was retroactively dated to 1649. Scarce LS in Old English, signed “Charles R,” one page, 8 x 12, May 10, 1629. Letter to the Lord Baron of Killoon authorizing him to negotiate on behalf of the King. Nicely signed at the top by Charles. Intesecting folds, small repair to paper loss at top right, and a mounting remnant along reverse left edge, otherwise fine condition.
