Description

Neil Armstrong

A series 1976 two dollar bill signed on the portrait side in black ballpoint by Armstrong. Signature was acquired at an airfield on May 29, 1976, and is accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient. He writes, in full: “I met Neil Armstrong on May 29, 1976. He really wanted to fly in the 1929 Ford Tri Motor Airliner. While we were loading out passengers, he and I were in the cockpit visiting and he told me that his dad had bought him a ride when he was seven years old and that he made up his mind that aviation was going to be his career. I asked if I could get his autograph and he said sure. I had given all my small cash to the ticket agents selling our rides, all I had was a hundred dollar bill and a two dollar bill. I said Neil do you mind signing these? He smiled and said not if you don’t. I met Neil at events later, he always came over to see how the Tri Ford Motor and I were doing.” In fine condition. Bill is encapsulated in PCGS currency holder with a grade of “very fine,” and is accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Pre-certified Steve Zarelli and RR Auction COA.
