Description

Sir Elton’s 1972 passport, used all over the world during his greatest period

John’s personal passport, number 926588, issued by the United Kingdom on February 18, 1972. Passport measures 4 x 6, and contains his personal information written in another hand on the second page, including his profession as “Musician,” signed at the bottom with his full name, “Elton Hercules John.” Affixed on the adjoining page, opposite the personal information page is John’s 1.5 x 1.75 passport snapshot. The first few pages bear embossed Foreign and Commonwealth Office seals. Several inside pages bear official visa stamps, including those from Jamaica, Australia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Japan, the US, and Canada, and also handwritten notations by John mentioning several music agencies. In overall fine condition, with expected wear from travel, including some soiling and a clipped upper right corner to the front cover, cancellation stamps to the front pages containing his personal information, and a few staple holes and small tears to some pages. This passport dates from John’s most successful and critically-acclaimed period—between 1972 and 1975, he saw seven consecutive albums reach number one in the US. The year this was issued also marked the release of one of John’s most famous songs, ‘Rocket Man.’ Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.
