Rare and very early Beatles Fan Club promotional photo, 5.25 x 3.5, signed on the reverse in green ballpoint, “Paul McCartney,” in black ballpoint, “John Lennon,” and “George Harrison,” and in blue ballpoint, “Ringo Starr.” In very good condition, with mild overall spotting to reverse, not affecting the boldness or clarity of the signatures, a few creases to reverse; and scattered creases, soiling, surface impressions and light silvering to image side. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from noted Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo, who states “The signatures date from late 1962, and these are excellent representative examples from this period”; as well as letters of authenticity from noted Beatles expert Perry Cox, and Tracks. Also accompanied by a 2012 letter of provenance from the original recipient who received the photo after becoming a member of the band’s fan club. In November of 1962, the band recorded ‘Please Please Me,’ and finished another stay in Hamburg. It was at this time the band’s manager, Brian Epstein, polished the band and prepared them for super-stardom. A particularly early and well-preserved example with outstanding provenance and support.
