Uncommon Jackson naval appointment

Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 11.25 x 9, January 6, 1832. President Jackson appoints Samuel Larkin, Jr., “a Midshipman in the Navy of the United States.” Crisply signed at the conclusion by Jackson and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy Levi Woodbury. Suede matted and framed with a portrait and a biographical plaque to an overall size of 35.75 x 19.5. In very good to fine condition, with three vertical folds, one through a single letter of signature, a few edge chips, and scattered light toning. A seldom-seen format in the era of America’s scaled-back naval forces following the War of 1812. Oversized.
