Description

Very rare oversized color portrait signed for a Hong Kong DJ

Color vintage 19.75 x 13 two-page gatefold magazine photo, signed in black ballpoint by Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr and in blue ballpoint by John Lennon. A central vertical fold, moderate to heavy contrast to Starr’s signature, moderate contrast to last potion of Lennon’s signature and scattered bends and creases, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks. Signatures were obtained by Hong Kong based DJ ‘Uncle’ Ray Cordeiro. Cordeiro interviewed the band three times in 1964, twice in London and once in Hong Kong. Prior to one of the interviews in London, he stopped off at a newspaper stand, purchased the copy of Fabulous and showed it to the group during the interview. According to Cordeiro, McCartney asked if he could take a look at the magazine as he hadn’t seen it yet. He then asked Paul to autograph it for him. McCartney autographed the first page and then carried on flicking through the magazine and he signed every photo that he saw of himself. John, George and Ringo noticed what Paul was doing so when they were asked to sign as well they followed suit. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.
