Brigadier General of the Confederate Provisional Army (1818–1893) who commanded the forces at Charleston, where he ordered the bombardment of Fort Sumter. Handwritten Civil War-dated endorsement signed “G. T. Beauregard, Genl. Comdg.,” on a blue 8 x 1.25 lightly-lined clipped slip, January 29, 1863. Beauregard references Charleston and writes, in part: “Pass the above person beyond the limits of this Dept.” Light toning and creasing, and show-through from mounting remnants to reverse, otherwise fine condition.
