Actress (b. 1909) and niece of Carl Laemmle, best remembered as the coach passenger who speaks the first lines of Dracula. TLS with a brief AQS, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, June 20, 2000. Letter to a middle school teacher. In part: “What an interesting concept for your young students,—learning to read by using T.V. and movie scripts. I think it is an excellent idea. Yes, I spoke the first lines of dialogue in the first talking supernatural horror movie, ‘Dracula.’ Here are the lines I spoke in the opening coach scene. I shall write them in longhand for your students: ‘Among the rugged peaks that frown down upon the Borgo Pass are found crumbling castles of a bygone age,’ ‘Dracula,’ 1931.’” In fine condition.
