Napoleon communicates military strategy with his son as tensions mount with Russia

LS in French, signed “Your affectionate father Nap,” one page, 7 x 6, February 3, 1811. Letter to his son. In full (translated): “My son, I am receiving your letter from the 27th. I approve that the gunner’s companies be brought to twenty and that the artillery train be brought to six. However, it is needed to make only one battalion of the latter. I have given orders for the guard artillery train, the horse artillery and a third of the artillery train company who are in Catalonia return to Italy.” Matted and framed with a portrait of Napoleon in his robe to an overall size of 16 x 10.25. In fine condition, with intersecting folds and some scattered light toning. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
