The Scout Movement is a preliminary school in which boys and girls are imbued with a proper conception of American ideals. A real Boy or Girl Scout, in any case is a promise of a real American in later life, a man or a woman, conscious of his or her obligations to country and flag. The exception to this rule is a rarity. In 1934, hundreds of thousands of Scouts assembled to hear President Roosevelt’s broadcast appealing for help for the needy.
