Description

Very early in his career, the famed Hollywood rebel signs during his 1954 Broadway debut

American actor (1931–1955) best known for his star turns in three 1950s screen classics: East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause, and Giant. His untimely death in a high-speed car crash elevated him to the status of Hollywood legend. Very rare and highly coveted vintage ballpoint signature and inscription, “to Barbara, with love and best wishes, James Dean,” on the reverse of a light yellow 4.5 x 2.25 slip clipped from the cast page of a program from Dean’s first Broadway play, The Immoralist. In fine condition, with light toning from mounting remnants to each corner tip and mild show-through from printing on reverse. Positive reviews from Dean’s 1954 performance as Bachir in The Immoralist, led to calls from Hollywood and Dean’s iconic roles in East of Eden and Rebel Without a Cause. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
