Description

Larry Lajoie

Baseball Hall of Famer (1874–1959). During his 21-year career as a second baseman (1896–1916), mostly with the Cleveland Indians, he posted a lifetime batting average of .339. In 1901, he batted .422, highest ever in a season in the American League. Vintage glossy 3.25 x 2.25 snapshot photo of Lajoie posing on a golf course with two other gentlemen, signed on the reverse in blue ballpoint, “Larry Lajoie, Best wishes, 12-8-54.” Lajoie also identifies the men on the image, “Lajoie,” “Bliss,” and “Mulherrin.” Tape to lower portion of reverse and a few surface marks and light silvering to image side, otherwise fine condition.
