Kennedy scribbles ten lines of notes, which read, “Should go ahead and recommend center to N.C.—textile Bill & groups; Should we get together all Democrats for coffee hours—and talk to them about program—balance off north & south interests; Textiles; Youth employment; Hill Burton.” Double matted and framed with two photos of Kennedy, one bearing a pre-printed signature and a plaque, to an overall size of 29.75 x 16.75. In fine condition. An interesting inside look into Kennedy’s thought process. Kennedy’s notes most likely center around a letter he sent to the 1962 NAACP conference informing the group that the attorney general had intervened in a court case arguing the segregation clause in the Hill–Burton Act was unconstitutional. The Act was designed to improve the nation’s hospital system, designed not to discriminate based on race or color, although separate-but-equal facilities were allowed.
