Description

“I like those candies—though I should not have them”

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, August 11, 1957. Letter of thanks to Miss Helen Boyle, secretary to Mr. A. C. Mattei of the Honolulu Oil Company, who had a close relationship with President Hoover. In full: “1. You are ever-thoughtful. 2. I like those candies—though I should not have them. 3. But I do want to thank you for thinking of me and to send you my good wishes and appreciation.” Intersecting mailing folds, one directly under signature, and several handling creases, otherwise fine condition. Miss Boyle would help the former president with secretarial duties related to his philanthropic efforts with the Boys' Club of America and the Bohemian Club. This letter acknowledges Ms Boyle's duties in relation to the annual Bohemian Club retreat at the Bohemian Grove in Monte Rio, California. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
