Description

With tongue firmly in cheek, ‘Amateur Author’ Rogers inscribes his book of letters: “I don’t expect you to read it. I never did myself”

Signed book: Letters of a Self-Made Diplomat to His President—Volume One. First edition. NY: Albert & Charles Boni, 1926. Hardcover, 5.25 x 7.75, 203 pages. Signed and inscribed on the first free end page, “Mr. C. F. Pritchard, My Entire Reading Public, from Will Rogers, Amateur Author. I don’t expect you to read it. I never did myself.” In very good condition, with mild toning, soiling, the front board slightly loose, and rust stains to the last page from a ticket stub attached at the back, with handling wear to the covers. As expected, a brilliantly witty inscription! Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
