Distinguished pose of the operatic master in 1910

Italian composer (1858–1924) who earned a central place in the operatic pantheon with such repertoire staples as ‘La boheme,’ ‘Madama Butterfly,’ and ‘Tosca.’ Matte-finish 3.75 x 5.5 likeness affixed to an original 6 x 9.5 mount, signed and inscribed in fountain pen on the mount with an inscription and in Italian and adding “Milano May 1, 1910.” In fine condition, with diagonal crease at the upper right, a creased top right corner, and light toning. Later in 1910, Caruso would create the character of Dick Johnson in Puccini's La fanciulla del West at the Metropolitan Opera House. A highly desirable likeness!
