Description

Scarce signature of a clean ‘Black Sox’

Rightfielder for the White Sox and Red Sox (1855–1955) and named as a wronged party in an indictment against the 1919 ‘Black Sox’ alleging he was defrauded of over $1700. Rare vintage ink signature, “John Shano Collins,” on an off-white 4.5 x 2.75 Baseball Hall of Fame-bordered card. In fine condition. Collins batted .250 in the 1919 World Series against Cincinnati, which unbeknownst to him was being thrown by nine of his teammates. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
