Description

“Sister Paul, You don’t know my business. Sincerely, Roscoe”

Rotund motion picture actor and director (1887-1933). In 1921, at the peak of his fame, Arbuckle was accused of complicity in the death of actress Virginia Rappe after a wild party. He was acquitted of manslaughter, but the scandal ruined his career. Vintage matte-finish 7.75 x 9.5 Melbourne Spurr portrait, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “Sister Paul, You don’t know my business. Sincerely, Roscoe. Omaha, Neb., May 16th, 1926.” Creasing, areas of soiling, and silvering to the darker edges, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
